Wrongly Accused to Fly the Sportsbet Flag in The Phoenix

Sportsbet has turned to one of the most exciting greyhounds in the country, selecting Wrongly Accused to represent them in the 2026 Phoenix at The Meadows.

The star Victorian will line up in the $1.65 million feature on Saturday, December 12, with Sportsbet chasing a third Phoenix victory after tasting success with Wow She’s Fast in the inaugural running of the race in 2021 and again in 2022.

And on current form, Wrongly Accused arrives at the perfect time.

The Justin Nolan-trained superstar’s credentials were on full display during the Group 1 Maturity Classic campaign earlier this year, where he charged into contention with a brilliant performance in the heats before finishing runner-up to Indy Melmen in the final, where he put together one of the biggest runs in defeat you will ever see.

Since then, his standing among the country’s elite has only grown with an incredible victory in the Group 1 National Sprint and an incredible track record performance at Angle Park to book his way into the Group 1 Adelaide Cup final.

Sportsbet – the only slot holder to participate in all five editions of The Phoenix – strongly believe they have a greyhound capable of returning them to the top step of the podium in 2026.

“Wrongly Accused is one of the fastest dogs in the country and has already shown that he belongs at the highest level” said Sportsbet Chief Commercial Officer Nathan Arundell

“Despite being early in his career, he is already a Group 1 winner and has the strength and speed that you need to be competitive in a race like The Phoenix.

“We cannot wait to see him line up at The Meadows and take his chance on greyhound racing’s biggest stage.”

Wrongly Accused’s PB of 29.429 is the seventh fastest time ever recorded over the 525m journey at The Meadows.
