Storm coming as Rinsed the Lot injured

The Melbourne Storm will be on the lookout for a new representative for the world’s richest greyhound race after Rinsed the Lot has been withdrawn from consideration by connections, due to injury.

“The injury is only minor, but you need to be at 100% to win a race like this” said Darryl Thomas, Rinsed the Lot’s co-trainer.

“The most important thing at the end of the day is the welfare of the dog and he (Rinsed the Lot) has been such a special dog for us already and has such a bright future”.

Since the announcement of Rinsed the Lot as the Storm’s representative for The Phoenix back in early September, it had been all systems go towards December 21 at The Meadows.

“All the planning over the last few months had been building up to this and his trials at The Meadows had shown us that he was up to the mark here and would’ve been extremely competitive.

“He went around post-to-post in 12.74, 24.60 (best of the day) last week on a day where the weather conditions weren’t ideal – they don’t go much quicker than that”.

With the close of nominations quickly approaching (Friday 13 December) all attention will now be turned to helping The Melbourne Storm find a suitable representative.

“There’s a few of us (Rinsed the Lot’s connections) that will get to work to help find a replacement that can win the race.

“With Hobart Thousand, Laurels & Silver Chief series all underway it gives us the opportunity to pick a dog that is in good form and is suited by the ‘pick-a-box’ style of box draw that The Phoenix has”.

The Phoenix Box draw will be held on Sunday December 15 and broadcast live on Sky Racing 1 from 11am.
