Meadows gun Slick Splits retired prematurely
One of Victoria’s best sprinters, Slick Splits, is retired.
It has come prematurely due to a lingering issue with his stopper bone.
Amazingly and unfortunately, he doesn’t turn 3-years-old until September. It’s hard to think he’s a litter brother to gun stayer Magpie Hector, who is on the way up. Slick Splits has been a star for the past 12 months. He raced 36 times with 10 of those starts at Group level, of which 6 six were Group 1 races. He won 18 races and notched up a shade under $450,000 in prize money.
His biggest scalp undoubtedly being the Topgun late last year (2025), where he gained a start as a reserve after the scratchings of Power And Glory and Deadly Avenger. He also won last year’s Maturity and was runner-up to Dramatical in this year’s Sportsbet Australian Cup.
Not only was he a class act, but he was also damn fast. He broke 29 seconds at Sandown Park running 28.999, 29.66 at The Meadows in the heat of the National Sprint plus 29.25 at Wentworth Park.
Slick Splits boasted a fantastic record at The Meadows, a track where he won his two Group 1 races. In 15 starts he caulked up eight wins and three second places. He also represented slot holder Sporting Legends, in the world’s richest greyhound race, The Phoenix in 2025.

George Dailly will stand the dog at stud and is in the process of getting DNA done and all other requirements for his future stud career. No stud fee has been decided.
“He does not turn three until September,” Lyne said. “So the best of him was yet to come”.
“He was a really hard chaser and we expect him to be popular. He owes us nothing.”
