Great Chase delivers $3,000 win for Wintringham
More than 280 people from disability and community groups across Victoria came together at The Meadows today for the 2026 Great Chase, celebrating a day of racing, entertainment and community connection.
It was Wintringham-Lydell White House that walked away with the major prize, taking home $3,000 to support its residents.
Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation that has spent the past 33 years supporting people aged over 50 who are experiencing homelessness or financial disadvantage.
For Tanya Bezzina and the residents of Wintringham, the Great Chase has become a much-loved annual tradition.
“Our organisation has been coming to the Great Chase for the past 11 years,” Bezzina said.
“It’s a day out with food and entertainment that we wouldn’t have been able to put on without the Great Chase.”
And the $3,000 prize is set to make a lasting difference.
“The residents will choose what the money will go towards, but I think they want to purchase a barbecue and some outdoor furniture,” Bezzina said.
Since 2003, Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) and its clubs have brought communities together through the Great Chase, hosting events at regional racing venues across the state before culminating in the annual final at The Meadows.
The 2026 Great Chase series welcomed more than 1,300 participants across nine events throughout Victoria, continuing its proud tradition of giving back to the community.
