Greyhound Racing Victoria’s 2024 Dream Chasers Series will again kick off with the Sportsbet Topgun Sprint and Topgun Stayers Invitational Races.

This is the chance for the racing elite to showcase their class ‘in form’ runners. In addition, making it a treble of Group 1s, ‘The Meadows’ very own Hume Cup will also be run and won!

All the action is set to take place on Saturday November 9. Offering a spectacular night of top-flight greyhound racing, trackside fences, terraces and the grandstand will be heaving as everyone hits ‘The Meadows’ to DINE, CHEER & PARTY the night away.

2022 saw GRV launch the Dream Chasers Festival, a high octane five week racing series. 2024 will again put the spot light on the world’s richest greyhound racing series. Don’t miss the chance to witness a trifecta of top-line Group 1 races and a brilliant night of entertainment.

Sportsbet Local Club Shout

The Melbourne Greyhounds and Sportsbet have partnered to give up to local sporting Clubs the chance win thousands of dollars for their Club, as well dine, cheer and party at ‘The Meadows’ on Topgun night.

The ‘Local Club Shout’ will be held on The Terrace (just near the winning post), topped with marquees, tables and bars for all to enjoy - and opposite the big race screen. This invite only event requires Clubs to register their interest and commit a minimum of 10 guests to attend dressed in their local Club colours. For attending Clubs will receive a $1000 donation plus a chance to win more funds every race. We’ll also provide roving canapes and a free drink to each guest to get the party started.

A history that's hard to top.

The Topgun, as the name suggests, is a search for the ‘gun’ sprinters and stayers in the nation. An invitational race, dogs are selected by a panel of experts see who reigns supreme. The first Topgun was run back in 1993 and has since seen champions El Grand Señor (2010), Buckle Up Wes (2014), Fernando Bale (2015), Up Hill Jill (2017) and Shima Shine (2020) salute in the 525m sprint.

The race was honoured as a Group 1 in 1999 and sees greyhounds race for a first prize of $150,000. Usually run in early November, this race lights up The Meadows crowd like no other race on the calendar. 2024 sees it again kick off the GRV Dream Chasers Series.
