Ho! Ho! Ho! Christmas has come early at The Meadows.

Bring the family along for some FREE festive fun!

The Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association’s team are throwing open gates and putting on a great night of family friendly entertainment, all centred around our favourite friends – the greyhounds!

This pre-christmas event will host a number of awesome FREE activations and feature plenty of give-aways (see below). Put it in the calendar, let your friends and family know and get ready to party with us on Silver Chief night.

Keep everyone happy and well fed with our range of great value food and beverage options available across the venue on Silver Chief Night.

You can dine upstairs in the City View Bistro, the northern suburbs hidden dining gem (booking required) or grab a delicious takeaway meal from one of our onsite food vans. There's also our trackside Midas Sports Bar, with plated meals starting from just $15 and on the run snacks and desserts from our hot and cold servery.

No matter what you choose, it wont cost you a fortune nor leave you heading home hungry.

Yes, it's a FREE family night, and we're offering loads of FREE activities and giveaways.

However, it's also a signature Group 1 Race Night, where world-class greyhound racing will light up our track. Whether you love the dogs or you've never seen them before, nothing beats the fun and excitement of watching these friendly speedsters rail around our track in the warm summer twilight.

We'll also have some Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) greys at the track, who love nothing more than a pat and cuddle.

What would a family night be without all the FREE entertainment, games, showbags and prizes.

This is what our family nights are famous for - FREEBIES. For us, it's all about giving back to the local community who support us. For you, its a FREE night of activities and the chance to treat the kids without draining the back account.

Silver Chief night will see our venue filled with FREE Jumping Castles, Inflatable Games, Carnival Snacks, a Kids Show and a huge Christmas Prize Draw, which will have everyone leaving The Meadows with nothing but smiles on their faces.

This is a replacement event to our postponed Melbourne Cup Eve Family Night

Due to the unfavourable weather forecast and safety concerns, our Melbourne Cup Family Night had to be postponed.

However, as promised, we'd find another night to ensure it went ahead. That night will be Saturday December 20 - Group 1 Silver Chief Night. We knew they'd be a 'silver' lining to this.

What's happening?

Always a moving feast of entertainment options, there will no doubt be a few extra additional surprises on the night, but here’s the list of FREE activities and food children (and parents) will get to enjoy at our Cup Eve Family Night:

Dine like a king in the City View Bistro ($12 Children’s Meals – booking required)
Grab a FREE entry into our Christmas Prize Draw (2 x eScooters and 2 x Nintendo Switch 2s and more to be won)
Enjoy a FREE ‘I Love the Dogs’ Showbags (for the first 300 kids)
Pat and cuddle a super friendly GAP Dog
Grab a bite or drink from our Food Van Precinct

In addition our concourse level Midas Sports Bar will be open for food and beverage purchases. Enjoy $5 schooners of beer and cider from 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Entry to Silver Chief Night is FREE, as is parking. No ticket is required to attend, just roll in with the family and your friends and have some FREE fun.
