After just three runnings, The Phoenix has quickly risen to become the most captivating and phenomenal greyhound race in the country. Offering a total prize pool of $1.65 million and a $1 million winners cheque, it’s the richest greyhound race in the world and the biggest party in greyhound racing! The fourth running of the Phoenix promises to be a phenomenal event. Every year this race event, and its build up, has grown. It now anchors GRV’s Sportsbet Dream Chasers Festival, as the final night of the Festival. The Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association will further add to this event with a host of new activations and hospitality packages that will breath more life into the phenomenon this world-class race and event has quickly become.

This year you have the freedom to choose from a phenomenal three course dining experience in the Temlee Dining Room, with seated dining packages starting from $95 or be right in the thick of all the action and trackside and amongst slot holders in our Winning Post Terrace Marquee Precinct, offering roving canapés and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). All access tickets to this party area are only $100 each. No matter what you choose, you’ll have a phenomenal night!

Catch a Sky Ball Competition

Australian cricket heroes Finchy and Big Merv will be at 'The Meadows' on Phoenix night, and be giving selected lucky patrons the chance to go home big winners in a 'Catch A Sky Ball Competition'.

In between the racing, they'll host a catching competition in the in field. It'll be phenomenal viewing as we watch knees shake and hands tremble under towering sky balls. If you think you've got what it takes to hold such a catch, then make sure you're at 'The Meadows' for you chance to get selected and win!

Live music and entertainment

Right across the night DJ Chloe Wilson will be spinning 'big beats between races' to keep the party atmosphere alive.

Located right by the Terrace Marquees, her phenomenal style will be action, and ensure that everyone can feel the summer vibes that come will 'The Biggest Part in Greyhound Racing.'

'Lift the Lids' for a chance to win up to $10K

As if Phoenix night wasn’t looking phenomenal enough, one lucky patron on course will have the chance to go home $10,000 richer.

Thanks to GRV, eight lucky patrons will get selected and nominated a chaser in a race. The winner in the race will then get the chance to ‘Lift a Lid’ and win up to $10,000 in cold hard cash in GRVs ‘Lift the Lids Cash Giveaway’. Entry into the competition is FREE, with those on track just needing to register to be in the draw.

A history full of 'wow' moments.

First run in December 2021, The Phoenix is the newest, most exciting race to hit the greyhound racing calendar in recent memory. In 2022 the event become the richest greyhound race in the world, with total prize money hitting $1.65 million, including $1 million going to the winning slot holder.

The first two editions of The Phoenix saw unprecedented media coverage and the Jackie Greenough trained ‘Wow She’s Fast’ go back-to-back, elevating her as the highest prize money earner of all time. Then it was a pizza shop owners turn with ‘Schillaci’ and Labrokes Racing Club to flip the script and bring to light that fortunes can be made by anyone!
