Slick Splits ‘too slick’ wins Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun

Slick Splits has shocked the sprinting world – securing a famous Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun victory at The Meadows tonight after gaining a start as a reserve.

The Team Dailly trained star took full advantage of his late call-up, producing trademark power and strength, defeating Eriza Sparkles and Mallee Beauty in one of the most anticipated invitational races on the calendar.

The win now makes Slick Splits a dual Group 1 winner at The Meadows after capturing the Maturity Classic earlier this year – further cementing himself as one of the most exciting emerging sprinters in the nation.

Tonight’s Sportsbet Topgun triumph was career win number 12 from 22 starts.

Post-race, handler Josh Formosa couldn’t hide his admiration for what the youngster is building.

“He is a good young dog and has plenty of strength, I was pretty confident coming down the back.”

“Slick Splits has it all and really should have a spot in The Phoenix.”

“After a couple of scratching’s he got his chance tonight. He is a young dog, and he will be in all these big races next year.”

“It doesn’t get much better than winning these big invitational races.”

Slick Splits now shapes as a genuine box office superstar as Sportsbet Dream Chasers continues – and one that could force himself into the Phoenix conversation very, very quickly.
